Afro-Kenya7s Rugby Continues Shortly. ‘Bewitching of Jalango

By Hesmatt Ongera (@hesmatt)

An exemplified performance at London 7s could have sealed the season on high were it not for the drama king Director Philip Jalango. In a twisted story that remind me of ‘the bewitching of Damieno’ for those who remember high school literature, Kenya rugby house is getting bewitched.
The Man.
First the director of Squads and elite performance sacks head coach Mike Friday and conditioning coach. He goes further to instruct the assistant Felix Ochieng coach to take over. this he claims was arrived at by the board of KRU unanimously and he was just passing the information.
The witching twist jets in when the KRU chairman or ‘shairman’ relives the Director of his duties and reinstates the sacked coach saying the director was not in order. Jalango was replaced by Gabriel Ouko in Squad and Elite performance  but remains as director since he can not be sacked from that position by the chairman.

Swords seem to have been drawn and sides taken as the fiasco develops. Kindly note it is about a month to rugby world cup and this drama from the helm will only leave two key losers…THE PLAYER and THE FAN. Jalango seems to be on the recieving end and if what he reported is anything to go by then bigger rifts and trouble are building inside the oval ball management.

London gave us a tip of cool running and a feel of sweet victory despite the narrow loss to New Zealand at the semis. All we need is to focus now and sack later. Confusion still looms we hope players will not be pulled into this and Jalango and Management will wake up sooner.
Keep watching this space to see the day Jalango is going to sack himself.
