KCB And Nakuru Hog Final Slots

This weekend’s grande finale to the ESS and Kenya Cup leagues will in essence be a showdown between Top Fry Nakuru RFC and KCB. These two booked the final slots in both these leagues with resounding victories in the semi finals played last weekend.

In the ESS, KCB II were 21-5 winners at their Ruaraka back yard over a Mwamba II side that would have on another day turned up in the Kenya Cup. Nakuru II on their part were on the right end of a high scoring semi final at the NAC, beating Strathmore II 41-29.

Since the fading of the Arturos of Quins, these two have been in a tussle for supremacy in the second tier of Kenya rugby. The Cubs of KCB have had the upper hand, picking up the last two Mwamba Cups and most notably eliminating Nakuru II in their most recent triumph.

Nakuru II were the only side to beat KCB II in the league phase a 18-7 triumph at the NAC on match day 11. Despite that loss the cubs finished the league phase perched at the summit of the ESS standings, 2 points ahead of Nakuru II. In so many words, this will be a cracker..

In the Kenya Cup, it was the final most had spoken of, and after what we saw in the Enterprise cup, you wouldn’t blame anyone who wanted another installation of the same. These two also, like their second string sides claimed their spots in this final in similar fashion.

The Lions claimed this spot after a 24-8 win over Quins at the RFUEA grounds. The Wanyore on their part beat Strathmore  30-16 in the other semi final to play in their second final in as many seasons. These two have been the stand out teams this season and will fittingly draw the season to an end.

More to follow in the respective previews…

KWISHA…Nimeruka Nje!!
