Mwamba To Bounce Back, Machine Escapes Relegation

When I started this section, I mentioned that I will be featuring everyone here from fans to players to coaches.

Well I present to you Mr. Collins ‘Kollo’ Nabiswa, a referee. Kollo also doubles up as a writer, social media manager/big wig and rugby encyclopaedia.

Kollo on the trail of his name sake..
Kollo on the trail of his name sake..

For his predictions, Kollo has decided to go all macho and not only give an exact score, but also give reasons why he thinks the results will go the way they will. I’ll stick to my margins, Thank you!

Here he goes..

Quins vs Catholic 7pm  VENUE: Impala MOs: Antony Ndong , Emmanuel Marete,  Collins Nabiswa

Kenya Harlequins might be having a season to forget but this tie could’t have come at better time. After losing out to DJs last weekend, they will need this win to bring back some hopes of play offs. Godfrey Jatelo Otieno to continue his rich form and guide Quins to a big margin score.

Prediction : QUINS 57- 3 CUEA.

Homeboyz vs Strathmore 4pm VENUE: KCB Sports Club MOS: Victor Oduor, Bosco, Allan Wanjohi

Homeboyz are riding high after a morale boosting win against Kenya Harlequins last weekend. They’ll be forgiven to think that they can pull off the same feat this weekend! Strathmore boosted their title ambitions by coming from a 19-point deficit to upstage former champs Mwamba at Impala. Homeboyz will be brought back to reality by the hungry Leos!

HOMEBOYZ 19-35 STRATHMORE

Machine vs Blakblad 2pm VENUE: KCB Sports Club MO: Nicholas Gachoya

The magnitude of this game can only be summarized by CUEA’s coach Simon Jawichire’s words last weekend after falling to Black Blad: “Hii ligi ni ngumu!” Both these teams are residents in the chopping zone and a win for any side will almost guarantee top flight rugby next season. Machine are no longer mean, and Blak Blad no longer bleed. This one is a relegation cracker!

MACHINE 20- 17 BLAK BLAD

Mwamba vs KCB 7pm VENUE: Impala Club MOs: Constant Cap, Chris Mutua

Kuna Papa Gizani! The two main teams that make up Papa, a Rugby Super Series franchise, and among the successful rugby clubs away from Ngong Road. This is one is going to be tough, nail biting, seat-squirming, adrenaline-raising encounter. No team can afford to lose this one! No team! There are only four play off berths, the first two look set to have gone, the remaining two can be, nay, should be taken up by these two. Mwamba can’t afford to blink as they did last weekend. KCB are not coming to Impala Grounds to gaze at Lavin Asego’s Game Inakuneed billboard. Mwamba seems the hungrier of the two. So Mwamba will have it!

MWAMBA 26-20 KCB

Impala vs Mombasa 2pm VENUE: Impala Club MOS: Peris Mukoko, Bob Sande

Impala RFC’s young squad is yet to fire all cylindres this season. They’ve had a lukewarm season, safe from relegation and not in the race for play off berths. This match presents a chance for them to post a good score to appease the long suffering fans of the Red Shirts. Mombasa are on a routine match honoring trip to the big city.

IMPALA 65- 0 MOMBASA

Nondies vs Nakuru 4pm VENUE: Impala Club MOs: Godwin Karuga Edward Mbugua

Nondies RFC are a team in turmoil with reports of their star front  row pair of Kangethe twins walking out on the Jamhuri Grounds-based side. They’re ironically headed to the Great Rift side. Wins have been as rare to the White Shirts as losses have been to the Wanyore. Wanyore are coming to Nairobi not for a routine win but to boost their points difference with their closest competitor, Leos.

NONDIES 5- 48 NAKURU

Western Bulls vs Kabras 4pm VENUE: Kakamega High MOs:Chris Okumu, Amos Wamanga, Collins Wekesa

Oooh Echulusi! Oooh the revered village bull that has won many fights from Khumusalaba to Shimalabandu! The cane cutters from the other side of Kakamega forest are coming for you. To join you in the village “oloko” (local dance). Will you let them pull off the moves? Will you let them rule the dance floor when the “tobe” (tin lamp) has been put out? Will you let them take off with the ladies from your own “sirekere” (village)? You gotta stand up and be counted! The cane cutters and tractor drivers are determined to sweep away the ladies and pull off the smoothest of the moves. And they will!

WESTERN BULLS 15- 18 KABRAS

Well there is nothing much I can add to that now, is there? Oh apart from my predictions…

Homeboyz +5 over Strathmore

Blak Blad +20 over Machine

KCB +5 over Mwamba

Impala +70 over Mombasa

Nakuru +30 over Nondies

Kabras +10 over Bulls

Quins +40 over Catholic

Feel free to let us know how you think these weekend’s matches will play out, in the comments section below.
