A Curtis Lilako hat trick led KCB to a historical 74-15 win over Quins at the RFUEA, that result saw the Lions move into top spot after Match Day 10 action.

It was Quins who took the early lead through a Lyle Asiligwa converted try, sparking the Lions into life. Two quick tries in succession from Philip Wamae and Curtis Lilako saw the score board reading 14-7 to KCB.
Darwin Mukidza, Peter Karia and Philip Wamae kept the score ticking, with Kevin Keegan scoring from a penalty for the quartered shirts to make the score at half time, 33-10.
It was all downhill in the second half as the Lions ran rampage scoring 41 points to 5, through Max Adaka, Peter Karia, Curtis Lilako, Oliver Mang’eni, Brian Omondi and Ken Moseti. Quins getting their five pointer from Johnstone Mung’au.
Tough times for the Quin, some claim that this is the biggest defeat the side has succumbed to since the 50’s. The side now slip into 10th spot on 21 points.
Elsewhere, Nondies benefited from a walk over against Mombasa who failed to honour the fixture. There were big wins for Strathmore who crashed the Monks, 116-0. Impala were 34-8 winners over Machine, with the Bulls registering a 31-5 result against Blak Blad.
At the Impala grounds, fans were treated to nail biting edge of the seat action as Nakuru took on Homeboyz and Kabras taking on Mwamba.

The Djs came into this fixture knowing they had to get back to winning ways if they were to remain with a clear shot at the play offs. This showed from the onset as Joshua Chisanga handed his side an early 7-0 lead. The Homeboyz were resolute in defending and looked up for the challenge in the opening stages, a theme that they would stick to through out the match.
There was however little they could do as Nakuru levelled the scores through a push over try, Martin Muita adding the extras for a 7 all score. The match would remain a closely fought affair, with either side giving little away. The score would remain tied at the half time break.
Homeboyz would kick off the second half as they did the first, Joshua Chisanga going over for an unconverted try to hand his side a 12-7 lead. The Wanyore would dig deep to take advantage of a Kevin Maasai missed penalty earlier to tie the score once again at 12 all.
We would be treated to a nervy closing stages as both sides went for the jagular, it was however going to be Nakuru’s day as a Martin Muita penalty saw the side take a 15-12 lead. They would hold on to that lead until the final whistle to grab the four points, with Homeboyz claiming a losing bonus point.
In the tea time kick off, high flying Kabras would take on Mwamba in what I had termed here as the fourth place play off. Whoever won here would hold the upper hand in the race for 4th spot heading to the league’s home stretch.

Kulabu wasted no time in making their intentions known here, Brian Otieno giving the black shirts a 5-0 lead in the opening exchanges. Gerald Ssewankambo would reply for the sugar millers, Aluda Beda kicking over the extras for a 7-5 lead.
Kabras would go into the break holding a 14-5 lead after Daniel Odongo went over, Beda converting. The black shirts came out with all guns blazing for the second half, Loius Kisia going over, Shaban Ahmed adding the extras for a 14-12 score.
The sugar millers would stretch their lead from a Beda penalty to make it 17-12 as the match entered the closing stages. The black shirts would however not relent in their charge, Horace Otieno going over with Shaban converting for a 19-17 score line.
Kabras would throw everything at Mwamba knowing any score here would do, they however got carried away as an infringement at the ruck saw George Mutuku drill in a penalty for a 22-17 final score.
Mwamba are now within three points of Kabras after that win, with a simpler looking run in compared to the sugar millers’. It is bound to be an interesting three weeks as Impala now in the picture for the race to the play offs.
