The two day women’s tournament that ran concurently win the men’s, played host to a total of five teams, Mwamba, Quins, Comras, Nakuru and Eastlanders.

The Mwamba ladies booked their ticket to the final aftter beating Comras in the semis. Defending champions Quins beat the Nakuru Ladies to set up this final.

Quins were first on the board, scoring a converted try just before half time in what was a cagey first half. Mwamba ladies came back strongly in the second half and turn the tables on the queens, crossing their try line twice to ensure that the Nairobi 10s women’s title heads to the Railway club.

The Mwamba ladies made great use of their more experienced players to make a comeback in the second half. Kenya Lioness captain, Doreen Remour at fly half formed a lethal partnership with scrum half Kate Abillah that led to the two tries by Joyce Cecilia and her sister Prisca.

Celestine Masinde and Emily Achieng played big roles for the side in the forwards.

Quins queens had great chemistry between the forwards and the backs, with player/coach Mary Serevi at scrum half to bridge the gap. Fresh players like Cynthia Camilla, who played wing made the backs more effective in their runs, she managed to break away from the defense to facilitate the first try of the game.

The forwards however had to do without Prop Winnie, but made great use of ball carriers Emily Andeva and Sheila Chajira to give a good fight.

Nakuru ladies took the third position, after beating Comras. The teams will meet again this Sunday 3rd May 2015 for the second leg of the Women’s League.
