The Quin In Naxvegas

Harlequins will make their way down to Nakuru early on Saturday Morning hoping to register another win after that impressive victory last weekend over Strathmore. Their back line is full of Kenya Stars; a blend of Sevens and Fifteens they are not taking any chances in Nakuru.

Kevin Keegan in action, the last time these two met.

Nakuru thumped Mean Machine last week, they have home ground advantage and hopefully the real Nakuru will show up to the party against a confident Quins side. Under performing thus far this season by their high standards they need to begin to get a series of wins to get their season back on track.

Match ups

Kevin Umbuge (Hawk) v Mike Okombe

Hawk: Hard Hitter and always goes for the positive tackle that puts the opposition on the back foot. A true blind side, Intelligent on the field and provides an extra option on attack.

Mike Okombe: Current Kenya XV’s backrow. Strong carrier of the ball and an intense defender with a great work ethic! He will need to be on his A game to stop the Big Quins Runners this weekend and provide inspiration for his team going forward.

First Wins?

Thika play the Bungoma sharks, who for many may be a “nothing” game but there is a lot at stake and history to be made in Nakuru. One of these two teams may pick up their first ever Kenya Cup win, and you can ask any Sportsman; a win is a win it doesn’t matter by how much or the opponent. In fact to quote Eric Cantona, “I don’t play against a particular team, I play against the Idea of Loosing” . So it is a big game and I certainly hope they do not draw!

Spare a thought for Homeboyz and Strathmore

Strathmore and Homeboyz are coming off 2 games in 5 days and both playing a third in just another 2 days. This must be physically taxing, especially considering that their mid-week game went right to the wire with a one point victory to Strathmore.

Homeboyz playing arguably the tougher game against Mwamba, BUT Strathmore probably need to ready themselves for a physical encounter with Western Bulls.

All things considered 3 games in 8 days is no joke!
