You might have noticed that, as the league progressed, I got older, more rugby versed heads here, I am not sure I can go any further after this week’s guest.
Before I go any further, I’d like to quickly acknowledge my guest here last week, the undertaker who narrowly edged me out. Well in Tito, and all the best in your future endeavours.
Onto my guest this week, who started his affair with the odd shaped ball back in 1995, yes 21 years ago at Kilimani Primary School. He then went through Nyangori Secondary School before landing at Impala a place he has never moved from.
He was part of the Kenya side that played in the Singapore 7s in 1998, part of that 7s class of 98. He was part of that 125 Dollar tour, I mentioned here, alongside Paul Odera, Charles Cardovilis and Sydney Obonyo.
Locally he won multiple accolades, his highlight being three-peat Kenya cup and Enterprise cup champions with Impala between 2000 and 2002, in 2003 he mentions they won one of those and shared the other, he can’t quite remember which hehe. In 98 he was part of the Impala side that made history at the Nakuru 10s winning the tournament without conceding a single point.
He reckons that he retired somewhere between 06 and 07, before taking up the role of TM in 2011, a role he plays to date. Ladies and gentlemen, you have probably figured it out, my guest today is none other than Philip Musalia Mwenesi aka Futie, they also told me to call him Smurf.
Off the pitch he is one of the most jovial characters you will ever meet, a man who truly loves this sport and specifically his club. A father figure to most of the current Impala lads, who love the man to shreds, if I can put it that way. You can not hold a straight face when you are around Philo.
It is his dedication to getting the very best out of everyone around him that sticks with you when you encounter the short, fat man. I could go on and on about this one, but let’s get to why we are here, the predictions :
Futie’s predictions
Quins 20-18 Kabras
Impala 23-15 KCB
No surprises in the second prediction, interesting that he picks Quins to win, I guess he wants his side to avenge the two losses to Quins when it matters most, in the final.
Here I go :
Quins over Kabras by 8.
KCB over Impala by 3.
So we both agree Quins are in the final, hehe as I mentioned earlier one of those results may come at sudden death.
