Battle Of The Beauties Season 3

The third edition of the Kenya Rugby Women’s League is set to start this Sunday February, 5th 2017 at the Kenyatta University.

The league title that has been won by Mwamba Ladies and KCB Ladies in the 1st and 2nd Editions respectively, will once again give the ladies a chance to boast of the top spot in Kenya rugby.

This year will see the introduction of Homeboyz Ladies, Lady Djs, to the league led and coached by Kenya International Mary Musieka. The squad that consists of a majority of former Quins Queens is looking to win this year’s title. They will have to tackle a revamped Mwamba, that will host a number of new Kenya Women’s 7s squad members Ashley Awuor and Sarah Mulamba.

Rosy also returns to the squad that is now coached by Kenya International Mike Agevi. The black shirt girls will have to face their former coach Mary ‘Mungiks’ Otieno, who was contracted to take up the upcoming Impala ladies side. Mungiks is looking to a top three finish. “We have been training well and hard. This time we are more certain of ourselves, and will most likely have a top three finish” Mungiks said.

Reigning Champs KCB ladies, are looking to hold on to the title, having a majority of experienced players, the squad has been training under the watchful eye of Kenya Women’s Skipper, Philadelphia Orlando and Kenya International Jacob ‘OJ’. Ms Olando, has been the corner stone of the team and is optimistic that they will defend the title. “We have new players coming in from K.U USIU and high school. We plan to keep it simple, to have synchrony for the new girls” The Skipper said.

Nakuru ladies are looking to surprise this season. The ladies side that won last year’s sevens edition of the local women’s tournament is set to make a better ending this year. Having finished among the bottom, in the last two seasons, the team has been working to make an impression in this season.

The Women’s League Matches are scheduled as follows:

Round 1: Kenyatta University – Sunday 5 February 2017
Round 2: USIU – Sunday 19 February 2017
Round 3: KCB Sports Club – Sunday 5 March 2017
Round 4: Impala Club – Sunday 19 March 2017
Round 5: Nakuru Athletic Club – Friday 14 April 2017
