2019 End Of Year Awards Nominations

WHAT A YEAR IT HAS BEEN! From the Kenya sevens avoiding relegation at the HSBC World sevens series, to qualifying for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, from the Chipu lifting the continental title for the first time ever and playing in the JWRT to KCB dominating the local scene and the return of the Safari Sevens.

2019 however belonged to the Kenya Lionesses who first won the Elgon Cup in July, reached the final of the 2021 Women’s Rugby World Cup African Qualifier in August, losing out to South Africa but booking a slot in the Repechage tournament. Then wrapping up the year with a ticket to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics in October, they will be in action later in the month at the Dubai sevens.

All these moments and memories boil down to a special player or set of players who stood out through the year, your task, should you chose to take it up, is nominate these players for the 2019 OSBKE Player of the year award. An award that has so far gone to Oscar Ouma and most recently Samson Onsomu.

This year we have decided to do expand our selection, adding the female player and fan of the year categories, all to be awarded at the End of year live recording of the Hecklers podcast on 13th of December.

The process is quite simple ;

  • Call for nominations (Which is where we are right now)
  • Shortlisting by a panel consisting of ; Coaches, Players, Referees, KRU, Media & Fans.
  • Short list of 3 nominees per category presented for voting.
  • Winners awarded during live recording.

So shall we?
