The 2021-22 Kenya Cup Fans’ Awards

As the curtains fall on the 2021-22 Kenya Cup season, I can’t help but look back on what was a monumental season, the first full one post the Corona virus and more significantly, the first with a women’s league.

Awards by the fans, for rugby!

While the attention right now, might be on who is staying up or who will lift this season’s title, I want us to first appreciate all the players, officials, club staff who have sacrificed a lot to show up over the last 11 match days, stretching across four months, some even more…your efforts are not in vain!

Which brings me, to what brought about this idea, why not celebrate the exceptional performers of the season, if by nothing else, just the recognition that they are appreciated? That idea bore these awards, by the fans for rugby!

So here goes, nine categories, namely; Forward, back, coach, referee, team, player, media personality, photographer and fan (a special dedication to Tyso). The process is simple, first you nominate your pick for each category (seven day period), then we’ll short list the top three per category, which we will then present back to you for voting (seven day period), the results will be visible to all through out the process, fair enough, no?

Let’s get to it…the nomination phase is now open for the next seven days (for clarity it closes on 15th March), you can make your picks below and share away!

P.S Feel free to reach out if you want to award any of the winners.

    1. I missed most of the season unfortunately but here’s my 2 cents from my experience…

KCB did very well to painfully lose only 1 much… The worst match to lose – Semis. Team depth is 100%… Our game play was smooth throughtout the season, despite line outs… Can’t wait for the 7s circuit for pure entertainment and lion-hearted rugby!

Mukidza, Kubu, Olindi & Asati among many are raw talent… Forces to reckon. (Obviously I call The Den home 🤣)

Ominde told us it’s not the size of the player but the size in the player that matters.

Onsomu made a tough but smart move for his career.

Buffa hakufanya Asati poa na hio hand-off 😅😅😅

The local game has developed really well… Although teams and KRU should give timely updates, highlights & results.

Call me up to do a magazine show for every game-week of the 7s circuit. That’s fire content I will produce well.
