Kenya Lionesses flier Janet ‘Shebesh’ Okello alongside Menengai Oilers skipper Crispin Shitundo and Shujaa legend Collins Injera lead the nominees list of the 2021/22 Kenya Cup fan’s awards, as the awards start the voting phase.

The three were nominated for two categories each, by both the fans and our panel of experts, Janet will be up for the women’s back of the season and women’s player of the season, with Shitundo and Injera both nominated for men’s player of the season, as well as the forward and back categories, respectively.

Shebesh will battle it out against Nakuru’s Grace Adhiambo, Impala’s duo of Christabel Lindo and Stella Wafula as well as club mate Sarah Oluche, for the women’s back of the season. Shitundo will be up against Kabras’ duo of George Nyambua and Teddy Akala, Strathmore’s Bethuel Anami and KCB’s Peter Waitere for men’s forward of the season.

Injera will have Ominde, Nyaundi, from the Menengai Oilers, Jone Kubu (Kabras) and Darwin Mukidza of KCB for company in the men’s back of the season category. Other categories include media personality of the season, referee of the season, fan of the season, coach of the season and team of the season.

The awards process started with an open call for nominations from the fans, which received well over 200 responses, which were then presented to the panel of experts for shortlisting. The panel consisting of representatives from fans, club management, KRU, Referees and Media then settled for a list of 5 names per category.
